Phonology

  1. k2 gave rise to tʃ in Akachenti and x in Merchan.

Syntax

Sentences were delivered in a topic + comment format, with the dominant word order as OVS. Polypersonal agreement and a tendency toward synthesis eventually created a slot-type polysynthetic language with noun incorporation.
