Text

She likes to steal your breath, your dreams, your hopes, your plans; to slip into your window at night and remind you that days are passing too quickly and you're wasting your minutes and hours, but she will not give them back.

She reaches through your clock in the day and whispers—"it sounds like tick, tick, tick, the tock a mere illusion—"don't forget that I'm coming for you, for the sands that are mine I gave you on loan.

It isn't the minutes growing fewer than what you thought you had before, but the sands falling back to their mistress as she makes you anxious, fretful, worried, so you clutch them tighter and they sink into her open hand.
